Offset business, opportunities for photonics

Swiss government places from time to time huge orders outside Switzerland (e.g. F-35 in USA from Lockheed) usually with an agreement that this beneficiary company (in case of F-35: Lockheed) orders also from companies in Switzerland or places part of the production in Switzerland to Offset (compensate) the business. Swissphotonics is member of ASIPRO, an organisation whose purpose is to promote the industrial participation of Swiss companies in aerospace, security and defense procurement projects of the Swiss Confederation abroad, through direct and indirect offset transactions. In this lunch chat, Christoph Harder, President of Swisshotonics, will talk about offset business opportunities with a focus on Photonics.

Christoph Harder received the EE Diploma in 1979 (ETH, Zurich) and from Caltech (Pasadena) Master (1980) and PhD (1983) and has completed the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration TEP (2001).

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
