Photonics and Quantum in Scotland - Building partnerships and sharing Scotland's expertise

Scotland House Brussels is delighted to invite you to an event focusing on photonics and quantum - technologies that underpin innovations that are fundamental to many aspects of modern life and business. Photonics and quantum is an area where Scotland plays a major role, with its organisations delivering more than 30% of the InnovateUK QT programme.

The UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement confirms UK's continued participation in Horizon Europe. With the first calls under the new Horizon Europe funding programme expected in May of this year, we are delighted to be working with colleagues from Fraunhofer UK, Photonics Scotland and the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), to showcase Scotland's expertise in these areas and reinvigorate the relationships with our European partners and friends.

Scotland’s Photonics Sector is a €1.4 billion industry supporting over 5,700 highly skilled jobs. The sector is truly international, contributing significantly to Scottish exports and creating partnerships and collaborations across the globe. It is also supported by several world-leading academic groups that provide a continuing pipeline of new technologies and skilled people. Scottish research excels and outperforms all other UK regions.

With speakers from both academia and industry, this event will focus on sharing Scotland's strengths and capabilities in photonics and quantum technologies, ensuring we continue to build collaborative partnerships with our European friends in these vital, high-growth research areas.
