Low-noise ultrafast lasers enabling robust and scalable quantum technologies

The performance of quantum systems starts with the laser. Low-noise femtosecond sources are key enablers for scalable quantum technologies, directly impacting photon quality, system stability, and achievable data rates.
We show how MENHIR Photonics’ industrial GHz lasers support applications such as quantum communication, network synchronization, and photonic quantum systems. We highlight how laser noise and stability translate into key quantum metrics like photon indistinguishability and coincidence rates, and how robust, compact systems enable the transition to scalable quantum infrastructure.

Dr. Jonas Heidrich
Jonas Heidrich is Product Line Manager at Menhir Photonics, developing ultra-low-noise femtosecond laser systems for scientific and quantum technologies. He holds a PhD from ETH Zürich on research in dual-comb ultrafast lasers.

Moderator

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing Director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, former Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
