Photonics 4.0 - The Future of Mobility

Photonics 4.0 is the annual joint conference of the German associations SPECTARIS and WLT, focusing photonics as a key enabling technology. The Photonics 4.0 Conference highlights the role of photonics technologies as part of a comprehensive digitization of economic processes, known as Industry 4.0 or Industrial Internet of Things. Some of the special strengths of optical solutions are:
  • High selectivity and sensitivity to all sorts of environmental signals.
  • Capability to collect and transmit huge amounts of data at the speed of light.
  • Flexibility, power and accuracy to operate as high-speed, ultra-precise processing tools for cutting, welding, marking, 3D printing and more.
In the past years, the Photonics 4.0 Conference has focused on topics like the production of the future, medical technologies or photonics-driven high-volume data processing. This year’s main topic is the future of mobility.

In 2020, the Photonics 4.0 Conference is scheduled as virtual live event. Speakers of several continents present their expert views on the photonics’ role for the future of mobility and exchange insights on the industry in Europe, North and South America, India and China. The current state of the art in the photonics industry is highlighted with special attention on the automotive industry.

Participants have the opportunity to discuss with the speakers and other attendees and to meet our partners in the virtual exhibition area. The conference is held online and in English.
