Ultra-low noise dual optical frequency comb lasers for sensing and metrology applications
K2 Photonics is a three-year old ETH spin-off building ultra-low noise femtosecond lasers for sensing and metrology applications. We will present the latest developments and product releases at K2 Photonics; the K2-OPO-mini our integrated optical parametric oscillator source, and its unique noise properties, including a few examples for the applications of this class of laser light source.

Dr. Carolin Bauer, Application Development Lead K2 Photonics
Dr. Carolin Bauer received her PhD from ETH Zurich in 2024, working on single-cavity dual-comb optical parametric oscillators and their application to high-sensitivity gas spectroscopy. After two years as a postdoc at ETH and EMPA working on GHz-OPOs and on multi-species trace-gas detection she joined K2 Photonics in the beginning of 2026 as Application Development Lead.

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing Director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, former Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
