Tailored OEM optical modules for the IVD and life science markets

Volpi Group is a dedicated OEM partner specializing in tailored optoelectronic measurement systems for Life Sciences and Diagnostics with R&D in Switzerland and production in both US and Switzerland. We provide end-to-end industrialization—from initial optical design to ISO 13485-certified series production. Our engineering philosophy centers on finding the "technical sweet spot" for our partners: balancing high-level optical performance with rigorous cost-to-market targets and long-term manufacturability.

Drawing on Volpi's heritage in fluorescence-based systems, a technical deep-dive into the development of integrated optical modules for (q/d)PCR will be presented. Rather than focusing solely on performance, the system-level trade-offs that must be navigated to reach a viable, industrializable solution will be highlighted.

Guido Niederer, PhD in Optics (Uni NE, 2004), working >20 years in industrial optics, mainly in the sensing area, joined Volpi 2016 as lead optical systems engineer and recently transitioned into the technical sales consultant role. More on LinkedIn

Dr. Christian Bosshard, Managing Director Swissphotonics
Dr. Christian Bosshard received his degree in Physics (1986) and his doctorate (1991, Silver medal award) from ETH. From 2001-2021 he was working at CSEM, first as Section Head and then as Vice President and Head Photonics. Since 2013 he is Managing Director of Swissphotonics. Christian is a Fellow of Optica, former Board Member of EPIC, and Member of the Board of the University of Basel.
